John Hackett Band support Amy Birks

Rock  |  Seated+Standing

John Hackett has been a much-loved and admired figure in the progressive rock scene since the mid-70’s; best-known for his flute work with his brother, former Genesis guitarist, Steve Hackett on albums such as Voyage of The Acolyte, Sketches of Satie and Please Don’t Touch.

‘Progressive’ music in our sense of the word is based on rock-solid songwriting coupled with hot jazz drumming, melodic, funky bass, outstanding guitar in the form of Nick Fletcher (often compared to the late great jazz-fusion maestro Allan Holdsworth), and John Hackett himself – whose flute playing has graced so many albums and travels with such ease between classical, folk and rock.

Drawing on songs from John’s solo albums Checking Out of London and Another Life, the evening also features material from the band's debut, We Are Not Alone and the Hackett/Fletcher album Beyond the Stars.

The band's special guest for the evening is outstanding singer-songwriter Amy Birks. Since winning the Prog Magazine Limelight Award in September 2017, as vocalist of the Beatrix Players, Amy has supported an eclectic mix of artists such as Carl Palmer, Big Big Train and Steve Harley: winning over dedicated fans. Her emotionally-charged performances were surely behind the success of her next accomplishment - Prog Magazine Readers’ Female Vocalist of the Year 2018.
Winner of “Best Female Vocalist” in the 2018 PROG Magazine poll, Amy Birks is thrilled to announce her brand new solo single “Jamaica Inn” taken from her forthcoming solo album. The single will be released on 15th November 2019, and to coincide with the launch, Amy is also announcing a series of UK dates in 2020.

“Jamaica Inn” will be available on different formats: digital download, major streaming services and 12” limited edition vinyl available from The Merch Desk. The 12” edition will be issued in a picture sleeve and pressed on etched black 180g vinyl.
