SHELLEY STRAUGHAN

Shelley studied Fine Art, sculpture at St Martins School of Art in London receiving a BA Honours Degree in 1982. Before that, Shelley completed a one year Foundation Course at Bath Academy of Art in Corsham.

For the first few years after leaving art school Shelley made three dimensional objects which she painted but began to paint and draw two dimensionally which she has done ever since.

Shelley now concentrates on painting landscapes; pencil and watercolour studies are made outside in the West Country and bigger paintings in oil are created in her studio. Shelley moved to Cornwall three years ago after living in Brittany for five years and finds the two landscapes very similar and always inspiring.

Shelley is a member of the Lifton Art Group who meet weekly to paint together. She has shown her work in many group shows over the years and this year took part as a “Wildcard” at Hever Castle in the Landscape Artist of the Year competition.
