Joanna Cooke

Motown legend Martha Reeves summed it up perfectly, describing Joanna Cooke as “the baby girl singing the blues". Like her South West blonde counterparts, Joss Stone and Jo Harman, Joanna demonstrates that true soul and emotional connection is not simply constrained by colour or creed.

Born into a strict but passionately artistic family, her father's blues records became the soundtrack to Joanna's upbringing. With a restless desire for music, she taught herself piano on a keyboard she found in a skip and was soon writing songs that moved people to tears.

Fast forward a few years and this self-sufficiency, drive and talent now sees Joanna supporting the likes of Tom Jones, Rag N Bone Man, Martha Reeves & Paloma Faith, and playing her own shows at both festivals and venues.

Following 3 well received EP's, Joanna stepped it up a gear in 2021 releasing 2 more notable singles, 'No Stranger To The Blues' and 'Give It Up'. The 100% live recordings featured musicians whose credits included Elton John, David Bowie and Van Morrison. Both tracks attracted international airplay, with Spotify choosing 'No Stranger To The Blues' for It's editorial playlist NU-BLUE.

Joanna's latest 6 track EP 'Kaleidoscope' (stylishly arranged and produced by Mark Edwards, (Carleen Anderson, Beth Rowley) has seen single releases reach the UK Soul Music Charts Top 30 and gain international airplay.

Joanna has also collaborated on some very successful electronic dance music tracks around the world and continues to co-write and sing on tracks with international producers.
