Lucky Man A tribute to the late Greg Lake

Rock  |  POSTPONED

LUCKY MAN is a tribute band to one of the greatest British rock musicians and vocalists ever, Greg Lake!

The lead singer and bassist of LUCKY MAN, Alex Bowler, has put together a world-class band to do justice to the legendary singer and bass player of King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Greg Lake‘s phenomenal 1981 touring band featuring Gary Moore and Ted McKenna and the band performs a collection of songs and instrumentals recorded and performed by Greg Lake during his time in those amazing bands!

Alex and Julian Hutson-Saxby, the guitarist of LUCKY MAN, both played in Ted McKenna’s own band, McKenna’s Gold, in the 80s, a few years after Ted played drums in Greg Lake‘s band and they are joined by two other great musicians, John Phillips on drums and David Churchyard on keyboards and backing vocals.

Alex says, “I have loved Greg Lake‘s singing and bass playing ever since I first heard ELP and King Crimson at the age of thirteen! It’s a great privilege to be performing his music in Lucky Man. ?I first saw Greg on stage with his phenomenal band featuring Gary Moore and Ted McKenna, at the Great Hall at Exeter University in 1981. I was privileged to go backstage after the gig and I met Greg and his band! Little did I know that just a few years later I would be playing bass in Ted McKenna’s own band with my friend Julian Hutson-Saxby on guitar! I think it’s amazing that Greg and I both played bass with Ted! That’s a very special link to him for me! We want to recreate some of the energy that that extra-special band had on stage! We look forward to seeing you at our LUCKY MAN gig at The Tree House and we trust you’ll ENJOY THE SHOW! ” Alex Bowler
